Do I need any special software?
No. You can listen to the podcast online or more importantly download it to your PC.
However the sole purpose of a podcast is you setup the software and let shows download automatically. Everyone these days have busy lifestyles and it is not always possible and convenient to be attached to a PC whilst listening to something especially when it can be done on the move in your own time! Therefore it is highly recommended you download the podcast each time or better still, setup the free software provided from this page and subscribe to the podcast. The software will then automatically check and download new SDI podcasts to your PC, MP3 player or iPod.

Important: Due to the podcasts consuming space, it will not always be possible to archive every programme, they may eventually be removed to make space for new programmes, however, installing the software will ensure you have all the series downloaded on your PC.

Why HappyFish?
There are many other podcatcher software available such as the popular iTunes, Juice, jPodder etc for free download from the web, and you can use whichever you are comfortable with. However as we have produced and tested the SDI Podcast using windows Vista, we found many of them had compatibility issues with Vista and HappyFish software worked well and is also known to be compatible with most version of windows.

How do you use the software?
HappyFish is a relatively easy application to use and setup, please read
the help files on the software.

How do you subscribe to a podcast?

You need to copy and paste the following link into the podcatcher software:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/sdipodcast

Goto the 'Add Feed' option on your software

To start the subscription you simply enter the above RSS feed into the free software, this initiates the subscription process. It then regularly checks your subscribed feeds for new podcasts, downloading any new episodes that it finds automatically!

About the presenter
Your podcast presenter and producer is Maqbul Yusuf. Maqbul has been working with SDI for over 10 years. Better known for producing Highlights of the Sunni Ijtema 1997 under the banner of MIS Productions, who has recorded several naat CD's of Qari Mohammed Rizwan in the UK. Aswell as helping to maintain the SDI website, Maqbul is very ambitious about radio broadcasting and has worked for Local BBC radio and often presents programmes on Ramadhan Radio.

Eventhough he considers himself as an amatuer, he says "The SDI podcast is an exciting new project, if it proves successful it will help me learn a lot along the way as I am no expert. Islam stresses on seeking and passing knowledge and this is a good means of doing exactly that. Whats more important however, is my hope that the listeners will InshaAllah learn and benefit from the podcasts one way or another and make duas in return specially for the organisation".

Is the podcast a permanent feature for SDI?
Hopefully yes, but at the moment we are just evaluating for the next 12 months, then we'll decide whether we should make it a permanent feature. All will depend on your feedback !
